Cherries and the Northwest Cherry Festival in The Dalles

Warm, dry summers make the area around The Dalles good cherry country. Wikipedia says the climate suits Bing cherry orchards and notes that the Northwest Cherry Festival is held each April. We do not list individual orchards here.

The Northwest Cherry Festival

The festival's page on The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce website says it has brought families, neighbors and visitors together "for more than four decades" and calls 2026 the 45th annual festival. The 2026 festival weekend was April 24 to 26, with a month-long Cherry Hunt from April 1 to 30. The page says the 2026 festival was reimagined because of the City of The Dalles First Street construction project.

For 2026 the page lists a carnival at Lewis and Clark Festival Park from Friday through Sunday. Saturday's festival day included a fun run, royalty coronation, parade, vendor market, quilt show, classic car show, community and children's fairs, dancing horses and an evening dance. Each year's schedule differs, so use the festival page for current dates.
